“You can come stay with me, if you get in which I’m sure you will, then you won’t need to worry about finding somewhere to live nearby, and if you don’t get in then we can cross that bridge when it comes to it.” She shrugs her shoulders like it’s not a big deal.

“You don’t need to do that Lucy I’ll be fine, there’s always smaller jobs to do here.” Dad shakes his head, a man of strong will it’d be like charity to him make him seem weak, but he was lying he worked for a security agency, he was put in charge of the safety of politicians, lesser known royals, celebrities and although he did get a fair bit of work in England that wasn’t anything compared to a continuous year long job.

“Who would you be in charge of?” I asked.

“Some actor, they’re doing a political drama in Brussels.” He replied giving me that look that told me he couldn’t currently say anymore.

“I can stay with Lucy, I’d need to move that way if I get in anyway daddy. Plus then I get to come visit you on the movie set during Christmas” I said grinning at the thought.

“Are you sure?” He asked cautiously.

  “Of course I am.”

“Oh! We are going to have so much fun.” Lucy cheered grabbing my hand and squeezing, I gave her a nervous grin.

“It’ll be lovely to have another girl in the house!” She squealed excitedly

“When do you leave?” I asked my father looking back up at him.

“In two days, it was a last minute thing.” He sighed.

“Well I better go pack.” I said getting up, I kissed him on the cheek and gave him a big cuddle in hopes I could show him I was fine with him leaving me for a year, and run back upstairs to decide what I needed to pack.

“I can’t believe you’re leaving me.” Amy whined for the tenth time since she walked into my room. I was leaving in an about hour and had decided to wait until the last minute to tell Amy and Tom knowing they’d both spend the last of our time together complaining.

“You can always come and visit, and we can facetime everyday.” I repeated again. Tom sat sulking on the bed arms crossed refusing to make eye contact with me. I’d packed all my favourite clothes, makeup and jewellery. I’d taken a while to decide what to wear on the way, comfort is important but you only get to make a first impression once. I’d decided comfort was the way forward ,with black leggings, a baggy grey hoody and black converses. I’d left my hair loose and put some light makeup on so I wouldn’t look washed out.

“I can’t believe you’re leaving before the party.” Amy’s screechy voice broke through my moment of vanity. “We’re meant to celebrate finishing all of our A-Levels. It’s not going to be the same without you.” She crosses her arms and stuck out her bottom lip. I held back a laugh, all she needed was to stomp her foot and she’d looked exactly like a petulant toddler.

“I know, but it’ll be good for my dad to get back to work and take his mind off of things, plus there’s four whole months before we even start university. I’m sure I can come down and stay and Lucy will let you come up and stay. Plus she has a son our age, you might get a summer romance out of it.” I said winking at her. She uncrossed her arms and thought about it, I knew I had her, she was a hopeless romantic with a broken heart at least once every two months.

“Fine!” She finally gave in and pulled me into a tight hug.

“What about me?” Tom finally piped up.

“You’re not allowed a summer romance.” I said Amy finally released me.

“Obviously, but there’s no positives for me.” He sighed finally standing up and walking over to me.

“I know.” I said biting my lip. He pulled my lip out with his thumb and kissed me.

“Maybe a summer romance would make me feel better.” He said a cheeky grin back on his face. I hit him in the stomach and he laughed.

“Hey, I’m your one and only romance. You got that mister!” I said as he pulled me into a hug and kissed the tip of the nose.

“I know, I love you.” He sighed and he rested his head on top of mine.

“You ready to go Serenity?” My dad called up the stairs.

“Yeah all set.” I called back as I grabbed my bags off the bed, Tom took them off of me, and we walked slowly down the stairs.

“Got everything you need?” My dad asked as he gave me a quick hug.

“All packed and ready.” I smiled up at him, he gave me a weak smile back.

“I’m going to miss you. So I got you a going away present.” He said pulling a package out from behind his back.

“You didn’t need to get me anything.” I still greedily snatched it out of his hands and he chuckled, I’d always loved presents. I ripped off the wrappings, inside was a camera, an expensive one from the looks of it.

“I want you to keep me up to date with pictures so I don’t miss anything.” He said his eyes teary.

“I love it.” I said jumping into his arms and hugging him tightly. Lucy appeared from the kitchen.

“You ready to go lovely?” She asked. My dad released me as I nodded at her.

As my dad and Tom got my bags into the car Amy pulled me aside.

“So is Lucy’s son hot?” She asked.

“I haven’t seen him since I was young.” I giggled always with the boys.

“Well you can get a nice picture of him with your new camera for me.” She winked at me. I laughed and nodded at her. After one more rounds of hugs from everyone, Lucy and I were finally on the road.

“I know it’s difficult leaving home, but I hope you feel welcome at my house. If you ever have any problems you can come straight to me.” She said as we pulled out of my street.

“Thankyou.” I released a breath I hadn’t realised I was holding, I was going to be fine. I looked up at the sky and thought of my mum, a pain stabbed me in the chest the world still felt too empty without her.

“Anything to make your life a little easier.” I nodded as I looked out of the window, watching the houses fly past that I’d known all my life, and as we reached the edge of town, I said a silent goodbye to the place I’d always called home.

  Chapter Four

We reached Lucy’s town, it was tiny compared to where I’d grown up. Farms surrounded it and the was a large forest I couldn’t wait to explore and take pictures in. The houses were huge I’d known her husband was well off, but I’d never realised how much he had. He was a solicitor and from what my dad had said over the years he was on an early track to become a judge. The town sign passed us ‘Shephard’s creek’ such a quant little name. I’d researched it a little when the first day I found out I’d be moving here. It was a low population area, with a tiny town square. It consisted of a post office, a convenience store, a butchers and a hairdressers. That was it. The closest shopping centre was a 30 minute train ride, that was also where the closest kebab shop was so I wasn’t sure how I was going to survive. We followed a few country roads around and Lucy pulled up to a large gate surrounded by an even larger wall. She pressed a button in her car and the gate opened slowly. Her drive way was as long as my road at home, it was surrounded by trees and was breath taking, like your own personal little woods. The woods opened up to the magnificent house I’d ever seen, it was made up of grey bricks and was in the shape of an L, the grass was perfectly green and a large waterfall was in the middle of the lawn. Large windows dotted along the walls, it was only two stories apart from where the L met which was four. A huge front door was on the left side of the house, it was wood and arched at the top like a church door. As we got closer I noticed Lucy’s hands going white as she gripped the steering wheel tightly. I followed her gaze and figured out why. The front trees were decorated with what looked like toilet roll, at least 5 teenagers were passed out on her grass, and glass bottles and empty plastic cups were scattered everywhere. You could hear the music blasting as we got closer the base made the car shake and I could feel the anger radiating off of Lucy.

“I’m extremely sorry for the murder you’re about to w
itness.” She said giving me a small smile, I could see the frustration and sadness in her eyes.

“If you need an alibi, just let me know.”

“Can I trade children with your father?” She asked laughing slightly at my joke. She parked in front of the large garage -which was separated from the house and looked like it could hold at least five cars- and I got out the car ready to quickly follow her. Her heels clicked against the drive way, and reminded me of war drums, I made a mental note to never get on her bad side.

“Up.” She hissed at the teenagers on her grass. The all groaned and then jumped up when they notice who it was. They quickly took off running down the garden bumping into each other, obviously still drunk. I followed Lucy to the front door I was amazed at how beautiful it really was up close, old fashioned, a massive door knocker was the shape of a lions head and I couldn’t wait to get a picture of it. Lucy burst through the door and I swear what happened next was like slow motion, every teenager in the entry hall ran past her for the door, a few slowing to give me a curious look. I followed her through to a large sitting room where large speakers were set up with an ipod attatched, Lucy moved like lightening and ripped it off the cable and music came to a screeching halt. Next as the teens ran for their lives, she grabbed a tall boy with ginger hair and green eyes by the arm and yanked him back to her.

“William where is he?” She asked in a growl.

“I’m not a snitch.” He huffed, he tried to say in what I assume was meant to be a chavy accent but it’d didn’t work with how post he sounded.

“Do we really need to go through this all again?” She twisted his arm and he gave a yelp.

“Games room ma’am.” She pushed him away and he rubbed his bicep, I stifled a giggle Lucy was a bad ass. His eyes shot to me and a cheeky smirk replaced his pained expression.

“Hey, baby I didn’t notice you before, we better go before she rips both our heads of.” He said as he swaggered towards me.

“William.” Lucy growled and he ran from the room his tail between his legs but not before he stopped at the door to turn and blow me a kiss.

“What a bellend.” I hadn’t realised it had left my mouth until Lucy burst out laughing.

“I think you’ll do fine here.” She said and set off through the house, I wasn’t so sure, this was a hell of a way to be welcomed into a new house. I followed her into a large kitchen it was covered in pizza boxes but was still beautiful all the cupboards were white and in the middle was a large island, before I could really take the room in Lucy was nearly ripping a door off the hinges to my right. The room we entered was large like all the others we’d been through and had a big U shaped white sofa, huge TV with every games console ever needed connected and a full size snooker table. I stopped dead and gasped. There was a girl on top of the snooker table on all fours, arse in the air no underwear beneath her tiny skirt. Her large tits were hanging out and she had her mouth wrapped around a dick, a large one I thought by the way she gagged every time he thrust into her mouth, his hand gripped her hair and he was not being gentle with her. His top was off and I could see a tanned chest, toned as though sculpted by the Gods, he had that sexy V pointing towards what was currently in the girls mouth. My eyes travelled upwards, his jaw was sharp and squares, his cheek bones looked like they could slice your finger off if you touched them, his eyes were closed and his full mouth parted as he groaned, his hair was slightly long and was brushed back off of his head.

“Will, I already told you I don’t share at the same time you sick fuck.” He groaned in frustration. Never stopping his assault of the poor girls throat.

“Well I guess you are a gentlemen after all.” Lucy spat out venomously. The boys eyes shot open and he pushed the girl off of him and pulled his trousers up. The girl quickly sat down and covered herself up.

“Out.” Lucy simply said and the girl threw herself off the table without a backwards glance towards the boy, who I now guessed was Atlas, I could barely see the similarities between the person who stood before me and the boy I’d called a friend. I could still see a few freckles along his nose and cheeks but that was it, Atlas had always been tall but skinny with nobly knees that always had scrapes. He’d worn square glasses and his front teeth had seemed to big for his mouth. This was no longer the boy who’d snorted when he laughed, instead in his place was a man.

“Thought you weren’t back for a few days.” He grunted pushing passed his mother, he stopped dead and glared at me. “Why the fuck is she here.” He growled taking a step towards me. I glared back at him and took a step forward not willing to be intimidated.

“Serenity’s father is working away for a year, so I said she could stay here with us since she’ll be going to Henrietta.” His feet were now toe to toe with mine and I had to tip my head up to glare at him.

“I don’t want it here.” Talking about me as though I wasn’t there even though he was staring straight at me, his dark brown eyes void of warmth bore into mine.

“Well it’s a shame you don’t own the house isn’t it. Now why the fuck did you think it was okay to have a party while I wasn’t here. You knew the rules. Your allowance is gone for a whole month and if you think about stepping foot out of the house, I will take away every single thing you love, starting with that death trap you convinced Marcus to buy you.” He shoved away from me and turned his icy glare at his mother. Then he simply turned and stormed out of the room.

“I’ll call Rosie and ask her to make an early trip to clean the house, once I’ve shown you your room.” Lucy said, acting like her son hadn’t completely ignored her. I followed her back to the entrance hall and up the stair case, we followed it round to the left.

“My bedroom is on the right side of the house, yours will be on the left with Atlas. I’m sure he’ll warm up to you. He was just in a bad mood, because I broke up his little party.” Little wasn’t exactly what I’d call it. We finally arrive in a large hall, with red and gold wallpaper and dark brown wood floor.

“I know it’s a bit old fashioned but Marcus felt it’d ruin the place to modernise it too much.” She smiled apologetically back at me.

“It’s fine, I think it's beautiful.” she beamed at me.

“This is Atlas’s room.” She pointed to a door to our left and then opened the one opposite. I nearly passed out as I walked in. It wasn’t a room, it was a small apartment, minus a kitchen, the walls were white all the way through and the carpet was a beautiful pale pink. There was a sofa facing a large TV, and a large bookcase next to what looked like the comfiest arm chair in the world, I couldn’t wait to sink into it, and read. The door to the right led to a bedroom that had a four post bed in the middle which had pale pink bedding that matched the carpet and was covered in throw pillows. It looked like it belonged to a princess. I followed her back through the living room to another door. It was the most glorious bathroom I’d ever walked into. A huge showed was to the right it could have easily fit 5 people and had one of those huge waterfall shower heads. The toilet and sink to the left looked like they’d never been touched they were so shiny white, but my favourite part was the claw tub in the back in front of a huge window.

“The window looks out onto the garden and the trees are so thick no one will be able to see you.” She explained. “Finally personally my favourite part.” She grinned at me and opened the door next to the shower. A walk in wardrobe, something I’d always wanted it had so many empty shelves and drawers that I did not have enough clothes to fill them up.

“I was thinking we could go shopping at the weekend. I have 5 years of birthdays and Christmases to make up for.” She said as we retreated through another door that led back into the living room.

“You don’t need to do that.” I was surprised I could talk I wasn’t sure my jaw would every fully pick itself off of the floor.

“I never got to have a little girl to spoil, so sorry love, it’s not optional.” She winked at me.

“Thanks.” I smiled still trying to
take in the room.

“No worries, I need to go get my house cleaned, I’ll get John to bring your bags up. You rest up it was a long drive and I’ll call you down when it’s dinner time.” Then I was alone, so I did the first thing I could think of I ran and jumped onto the bed. If you could jump on a cloud I imagined this was exactly what it’d feel like. I was instantly asleep, the dream was of marshmallows and cotton candy.

  Chapter Five

I woke up from the best nap I think I’ve ever had in my life stretching my arms above my head, I yawn and roll over to grab my phone to check the time, but before I can find it I scream and throw myself backwards out of bed. There’s someone in my bedroom standing in the shadows arms crossed. I swear loudly as my arse hits the floor, even the soft carpet wasn’t going to stop the bruise that I was sure would be forming on my behind. I peeked up from behind my bed and took in the stranger. He stepped forward out of the light, and I sighed a sound of relief when I realised it was Atlas. The relief was short lived when I noticed the angry look on his face, his eyes had turned even darker and were near enough black. He stalked around the bed to where I was on the floor and looked down at me his face morphing into a look of disgust like I was a piece of dog shit on his shoe. I backed up towards the wall and pushed myself into a standing position clutching my heart which was still trying to pound out of my chest.

“Were you watching me sleep you fucking creeper.” I said glaring at him. He ignored me and instead stood directly in front of me, his fist slamming onto the wall either side of me. Heat radiated off of his body and I could smell him. Expensive aftershave and something I couldn’t quite put my finger on, something entirely him an earthy scent that made my mouth water.

“Want to tell me what the fuck you want Ati.” I said using my old nickname for him as I tried to push him back. He didn't budge and all I ended up doing was feeling his rock hard abs under his black top.
